LAST ROOM is a play inspired by Anthony Bourdain.

The Hidden Studio, SoHo

Eight shows only

The Play

Five years after his death, Anthony Bourdain remains a cultural giant, the subject of books, documentaries, and articles about his legacy. The play Last Room helps unravel the mystery of Bourdain’s life by diving deep into the psychology of a character based on him and exploring the themes he embodied.

Last Room is the story about a solitary traveler in a hotel room—somewhere—unable to leave, unsure of where he came from, how he got there, or where he’s trying to go. The premise is drawn from an actual dream Bourdain described in an episode of his show Parts Unknown. The play is a meditation on the meaning of home, the joy and loneliness of travel, and the conflicts between fantasy and reality.

The play will begin at 8 p.m. and runs approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. Late entry will not be permitted.

The Space

This isn’t your typical night at the theater. Last Room will be staged in a private location we’re calling the Hidden Studio, located in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The address will be revealed to ticket holders only. Normally used for photo shoots, the Hidden Studio is in an 1879 building with peeling paint, a tin ceiling, an antique elevator, and walls of windows. Celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio and Oscar Isaac have been photographed there.
